Personal data

Born to parents Lucille and Herbert (who were teachers, poets and musicians), Barrett was one of five kids. He believes that he “learned respect for other people from [his] parents.”

At Westport’s Staples High School, Barrett was Captain of the baseball, basketball and soccer teams. In University, he became a “star” on the soccer team too. However, following a serious back injury, he had to bid farewell to his soccer career. Although he had a great voice and loved music, he said that he couldn’t pursue that career path as he “didn’t like the life of a musician.”[8]

In October, 2014, at Cardinal Health’s Retail Business Conference in Washington, D.C., Barrett played the guitar with Roger Daltrey and his band for the song "Squeeze Box". An accomplished guitarist and keyboardist, Barrett explained: “I don’t know why, but I wasn’t intimidated; I really enjoyed it….I think a lot of our employees were surprised. The band was very gracious and welcoming.” He added: “Playing with Sting would be enormous fun,” he said. “Certain musicians just seem to be a magnet for other musicians.”[9] In October 2014, he met President Barack Obama to discuss immigration reform.[10] Barrett supports pediatric cancer programs at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.[11]

Today Barrett lives with his wife Debbie Neimeth. The couple has three adult children: Kate, Zach and Emma.
