George Marjoribanks
Captain Sir George Marjoribanks (died 1931) was a British polo player and banker.
Biography
He was the cousin of Edward Marjoribanks, 2nd Baron Tweedmouth. George was a skilled banker and rose to the position of chairman[1] of the Coutts Bank, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Edward Majoribanks Sr.[2] The families continuing involvement in banking originates from Sir Georges great grandfather Edward being a close friend of Thomas Coutts.[3]
Sir George was a keen polo player and was on the first winning team of the Roehampton Trophy in 1902. He was knighted for his services to the British financial industry.
