George Gould (businessman)

George Gould, ca 1923
George Gould (6 April 1865 – 26 May 1941) was a New Zealand farmer, businessman, stock breeder, racehorse owner and breeder, and racing administrator. He was born in Christchurch, New Zealand on 6 April 1865.[1] His father (1823–1889), a prominent businessman, had the same name.[2] He was the uncle of George Ranald Macdonald.[3] He was the grandfather of British politician, Bryan Gould.
He was chairman of the New Zealand Shipping Company for some time.[4] He died on 26 May 1941 in Christchurch.[1] His sister Mabel, the widow of the Hon. Henry A. Hannen (himself the son of James Hannen, Baron Hannen), died in the same week.[5]
