George Cruickshank (bishop)
The Rt Rev George Craig Cruikshank was the 7th Anglican Bishop of Waiapu[1] from 1945 to 1946.
He was born in 1881[2] and educated at Keble College, Oxford. He was ordained in 1908 [3] and embarked on his ecclesiastical career with a curacy at St Hilda, Darlington.[4] After this he was Vicar of Whangarei during which time he was a Chaplain to the first New Zealand Expeditionary Force. From 1923 to 1932 he was Vicar of Remuera. In that year he became Dean of Dunedin, a post he held until his elevation to the Episcopate.
