The first series of Geordie Shore, a British television programme based in Newcastle upon Tyne, began airing on 24 May 2011 on MTV.[2] The series concluded on 12 July 2011 after 6 episodes and 2 specials including a reunion show hosted by Russell Kane and an episode counting down the best bits of the series. From 23 August 2011 until 30 August 2011, 2 Magaluf specials aired on MTV,[3][4] however these episodes are featured on the series 2 DVD.[1] The series included Holly's turbulent relationship with Dan coming to an end,[5] the beginning of Gaz and Charlotte's ongoing love/hate relationship, and Jay and Vicky's rocky relationship.[6] This was the only series to feature Greg Lake.[7]
Storylines
Jay and Vicky, the first ones to arrive in the house immediately hit it off and end up sharing a room together. Charlotte and Sophie however fail to make a good impression as they get too drunk and have to be put to bed early. Holly announces she's got a boyfriend whilst in the hot tub with all of the other boys. She reveals that she's allowed to do anything with a boy except from sex, causing confusion for the group. As the night continues, Holly gets carried away and ends up in bed with Gaz. Jay and Vicky both share a kiss and agree not to flirt with anyone else, however Vicky can't help herself as she begins to fall for Greg. The next morning, Anna (The Boss) arrives in the house and tells everyone the rules for staying in the house and announces they'll be working for her company in order to stay in the house. Holly informs her boyfriend about her actions in the hot tub, who doesn't seem too impressed, and Sophie apologises to everyone about her behaviour from the night before. Meanwhile, Greg feels left out with the other boys, feeling he doesn't have much in common with them. After considering leaving, Greg turns to Vicky for support where she convinces him to stay. Greg tries to make more of an effort to fit in with the boys and attempts to get girl's phone numbers on a night out to impress them all. On the first night out Charlotte keeps her options open for any boys that might catch her eye, but Gaz is keen to take her home. After a little persuading, she finally agrees to go back to the house with him to go into the hot tub. However, when they get back home, they go straight up to the bedroom but nothing happens.
The following day, Jay and James fail to set their alarm and oversleep when they're due in at work, they immediately jeopardise their position in the house as Anna considers throwing them out. After a tough decision, Anna gives the boys another chance and lets them stay. Holly claims she can't remember what happened between her and Gaz on the first night but Gaz swears he's telling the truth. Later, during a conversation with her boyfriend, Holly confesses that something may have happened between them. Greg decides to teach the other boys how to treat a girl so gives some girls a call and invites them round to the house. The boys send Vicky, Holly, Charlotte and Sophie upstairs while they plan on getting their dates drunk and having sex with them. After realising the girls aren't as fun as they originally thought they'd be, the boys end up apologising to their housemates. During another night out, Charlotte makes it clear that she's falling for Gaz and isn't happy when she sees him pulling other girls. Vicky's also not impressed as she spots Jay getting stuck into another girl. After arguing with Greg and Jay, Charlotte decides to go to sleep angry. The next morning Charlotte regrets her actions towards the boys yet still feels upset over Gaz, but before she has time to apologise, Sophie's parents arrive. The next night Holly feels left out in the group and decides to seek comfort in a man that catches her eye. In the club, they kiss and begin to grind on each other leaving Vicky confused over the situation with her boyfriend back at home. Meanwhile, Gaz has intentions of taking Charlotte back and having sex with her, but isn't pleased when he sees her with another man, and Jay isn't happy when he catches Vicky flirting with another boy. Back at the house, Gaz takes Charlotte up to the bedroom but is disappointed when she falls asleep before they have a chance of doing anything. Jay and Vicky manage to sort out their differences and have a kiss in bed before falling asleep. The next morning however, Charlotte finally gives into temptation and has sex with Gaz. She then tells the girls the gossip only to hear that they're disappointed that she gave in. Jay and Vicky call a truce from the arguments from the night before and discuss going out for a meal together.
At work, Charlotte and Gaz get even closer as they discuss the events from the previous night and earlier in the morning. Meanwhile, Holly gets a shock as her boyfriend, Dan arrives in the house. She tells him that she kissed another boy on a night out but he doesn't seem bothered. However, the rest of the group worry for Gaz when he gets back from work in case Dan started an argument. When Gaz arrives though, there's a calm atmosphere but he can't help but feel guilty. The others can't seem to understand why Dan is letting Holly get away with everything she's doing. That night, Holly gets too drunk and starts to get emotional. As the begins the trash the club, Vicky makes sure she goes outside to cool off. She then cries in Dan's arms and says she wants to go home, and he takes her back to the house. Elsewhere, Jay and Vicky have another bust-up in the club and Vicky ends up kissing a random out of revenge. Unbeknownst to this, Jay then apologises to Vicky for kicking off with her, and she then feels guilty for her actions. They go back to the house together after calling another truce and share a kiss. The next day is Jay's birthday and to celebrate, they all go on a night out together. Things soon turn to disaster as Vicky spots Jay following a random girl into the toilet, which leaves her no choice but to barge in and kick off with him. However, she soon realises she's got the complete wrong idea and it was just a coincidence that they went in together. Jay discovers Vicky's actions towards the random girl and decides to wreck the club with anger. Following the argument, Vicky admits she doesn't want to lead Jay on in case he ends up getting hurt. Meanwhile, Holly continues to feel alone and decides to go home early to pack her bags and return to Middlesbrough without telling the others. Vicky decides to speak to some of her friends in the club which makes Jay jealous, and as he attempts to talk to her about it, she storms out of the club and demands to go home. Elsewhere, Charlotte tries to pull a random boy to prove a point that she doesn't have feelings for Gaz. She takes him back to the house but falls asleep before anything happens.
The next morning, Charlotte finds a note from Holly and is upset to find that she's left the house, as the news spreads around the group, Sophie's not happy with the boys opinions of Holly. There's clear tension in the house between Jay and Vicky, and she moves out of her room and in with the girls now that Holly's gone. To prove that she's over Jay, Vicky phones Anna and asks her to set up three blind dates for the remaining girls. Charlotte and Gaz get close again and discuss the situation between Vicky and Jay, but both seem to take Jay's side and feel Vicky's treating him unfairly. After the treble blind date, Sophie and Charlotte aren't happy with the outcome and suggest spending the night with their own boys in the house, however Vicky makes her feelings known that the boys don't care about any of them and are more interested in pulling other girls. Once everyone arrives back at the house, Charlotte and Sophie turn to Greg to tell him what Vicky's been saying. Greg then repeats it to Gaz and James. Meanwhile, Jay brings a girl back to the house with him but she's immediately put off when all he can talk about is Vicky. The following night, Vicky discovers that the whole house has been talking about her behind her back and confronts Sophie and Charlotte over their deception. After a heated row in a club, Vicky returns to the house in tears and turns to Jay for support. Meanwhile, Charlotte continues to talk about Vicky's behaviour to the boys but is unaware that she has heard the whole conversation. Vicky decides to cool off and go to bed and decide what she wants to do in the morning. When she wakes up her mind is still set on leaving but wants to discuss her decision with Charlotte and Sophie. However, Anna asked them both to go into work so they didn't have time to talk to her. She then chooses to meet her Mum and sister instead where she finally decides to stay. After arriving back in the house, Sophie and Charlotte both apologise to Vicky over their recent arguments and decide to put the past behind them.
The next day Holly returns to the house but doesn't get the welcome back she was expecting. The group then go to the beach for a day out but Vicky still remains miserable. Greg sees the clear divide between the boys and the girls and isn't impressed by Vicky's attitude. When everyone arrives back at the house Greg confronts Vicky over her behaviour and the pair get involved in a huge row. Vicky then refuses to go out that night but after a conversation with Sophie, she changes her mind. Charlotte promises not to speak to Gaz on the night out but can't help herself when she gets jealous after seeing him kissing another girl. Vicky and Jay end up getting in bed together when they arrive back in the house, and Charlotte climbs into Gaz's bed. Holly feels uninvolved again the next day when the group discuss the bed situation, and no one seems to want Holly in their room. Eventually Holly agrees to move back in with the girls, Charlotte and Gaz move into Jay and Vicky's old room and Jay moves in where Gaz was, but Charlotte makes Gaz promise not to bring a girl back in the bed next to her. However, that night Gaz is too ill to even go out and Charlotte comes home early to nurse him. She's too drunk though and only makes things worse for him. Holly gets too drunk again and ends up calling her boyfriend, confessing to getting into bed with Gaz on the first night then demanding her boyfriend finish her. He hangs up on her. The next morning she phones him back and invites him along to a night out with the group where they can discuss everything. On the night out Holly begins to flirt with Gaz' friend, but then Dan arrives and asks Holly if she wants to be with him or not. She doesn't know how to respond and leaves the club insure over her feelings.
Greg and Holly are both asked to go into work the next day and there's clear tension between them following recent arguments. Whilst at work, Holly receives a visit from Dan and they discuss their situation. Dan then ends the relationship and storms off. Returning home with the news that she's single, Holly's surprised that no one seems to be shocked. Sophie plans a day at the dogs for everyone but Jay and James are called into work. At the dogs, Charlotte takes Gaz over to one side and tells him that she has feelings for him. When he says that they're just friends she puts on a brave face but knowing about Charlotte's feelings, Gaz promises not to bring a girl back in the bed next to her. Jay and James bring Anna's niece to the dogs and Vicky's mood suddenly changes for the worst but doesn't let Jay think that it bothers her. The next day, Vicky and Jay agree to not flirt with other people but Jay immediately breaks the agreement causing a public row, but they kiss and make up not long after. Getting back to the house, Greg asks Holly not to smoke where the non-smokers are sitting. Holly then kicks off at Greg and the pair begin a huge argument. The argument soon turns physical as Holly throws her glass down to the floor almost hitting Gaz. She then moves upstairs, trashes the bathroom then packs her bags. With her bags packed and ready to leave, Jay kicks her while she's down and throws some home truths at her. An emotional Holly then says goodbye to Charlotte and leaves again. Astonished by Jay's callous behaviour, Vicky starts an argument with him which ends with her spitting in his face. Realising she's gone too far, she takes herself out of the situation but refuses to apologise.
On the final night, Jay and Vicky agree to call a truce but promise to go no where near each other again. Charlotte gets too drunk and needs to be taken home early by Sophie, and is put to bed. Meanwhile, Gaz decides to bring a girl back but realises there's no where to take her. At the last resort, he takes her in his and Charlotte's room. In the middle of the night, Charlotte wakes up and sees Gaz having sex with the girl. She then takes herself out of the room and opens up to Greg about how upset she is with Gaz for doing what he's done. In the morning Gaz attempts to apologise to Charlotte but she seems too stubborn to accept. Everyone says an emotional goodbye to each other before returning home.
Magaluf Madness
Geordie Shore arrives in Magaluf and Holly is the first one in the new luxury villa. As she welcomes everybody in, there’s no sign of Vicky who’s apprehensive of going because of arguments with Jay. Mark, (The new boss) visits and tells everyone that the villa mustn't be left empty and one person must be in the house at all times. However, the rule’s instantly broken as everyone goes out on the first night without Vicky. Holly reveals that she used to have feelings for James and they may be coming back. As Gaz gets on stage to act out different sex positions, Charlotte keeps a close eye on him but assures Sophie that she isn't jealous. Jay, Gaz and Greg are then asked to be judges for a wet t-shirt competition and Holly decides to participate. Everyone looks in shock however as Holly starts kissing a girl on stage and is quickly named the winner. Meanwhile, Vicky arrives to an empty house and isn't happy when she realises there isn't a bed for her. She then decides to go upstairs into the double bed where the boys were planning on bringing girls back into. Jay brings back two girls to the house and decides to go up to the double bed but is shocked to find Vicky asleep there. Vicky kindly agrees to move beds for Jay, and the girls are surprised at her new calm behaviour. At the beach the next day, James overhears Vicky bitching about the girls Jay brought back to the house and confronts her about it. Vicky immediately backs down and apologises, leaving Charlotte shocked at how she’s changed. Mark arrives at the house to tell everyone off and as punishment, makes two people stay in the villa the next night. Greg and Gaz volunteer to do this, but Gaz calls a girl from the night before and invites her round.
The next day, the girls see four boys at the beach and take their numbers. Charlotte and Holly tell the boys that they’re going to be looking after the house. After the boys all go out that night, the girls then follow, including Holly and Charlotte to meet the boys they’d previously met at the beach. However, their plan soon falls apart when the boys arrive back at the empty house first and realise the girl’s deception. Once the girls return with their dates, the boys instantly get jealous and start arguing. Charlotte and Vicky stand up to the boys and Gaz takes things too far by calling Charlotte ugly. There’s a lot of tension the next day between the boys and the girls and Vicky begins to lose patience with Gaz. On a night out, Gaz realises that he hasn’t got a girl and the club is about the close. In a desperate attempt to pull, he turns to Charlotte but she refuses to go home with him. Back at the house however, Charlotte changes her mind and ends up in bed with Gaz. Realising her mistake in the morning, she then hides in the toilet to have a little cry. When Vicky goes to see if she’s alright, Gaz assumes she’s the reason Charlotte’s upset. For the last night in Magaluf, everyone calls people who they’ve been bringing back and invites them for a bit group party. Charlotte soon realises that it isn’t a good idea when her boy gets a bit too clingy, meanwhile the boys seem to be getting on fine. Charlotte pulls Gaz to one side and tells her that she’ll never go back to him again and doesn’t let him get a word in edgeways. After the mouthful from Charlotte, Gaz returns to find his girl has gone home so heads home alone. The next morning as everyone packs their bags to return to Newcastle, Gaz finally admits that he has feelings for Charlotte.
