Hacking

On 16 Feb 2003, Geo TV's website was hacked by 'Z Hacking Crew' (ZHC),[9] a hacktivist group that has defaced large scale Indian websites in the past. ZHC protested against a lack of coverage of the week-long curfew imposed by Indian authorities in Kashmir and what they saw as India-oriented programming.[10]

Controversies

According to Declan Walsh, some militant outfits including Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Muttahida Qaumi Movement's alleged militant wing have infiltrated the Geo group, that helped them in executing murder of Wali Khan Babar and attack on Pakistan Navy's aviation base in 2011.[11]

Ban

In May 2014, Geo TV was banned by PEMRA[12]for airing blasphemous content on Geo Entertainment in its morning show Utho Jago Pakistan.[13][14][15] Protest was also done in Lahore as people said it is an unlawful ban.[16] While on other hand countrywide protest was done against Geo for airing controversial content.[17][18][19]
