Genthin (German pronunciation: [ɡɛnˈtiːn]) is a town in the Jerichower Land district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the Elbe-Havel Canal, approx. 50 km northeast of Magdeburg, and 27 km west of Brandenburg.
Genthin was the seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") Elbe-Stremme-Fiener until its incorporation into Jerichow municipality in 2010.
On the night of 21–22 December 1939, a train accident on the Berlin–Potsdam–Magdeburg Railway at Genthin killed 278 people; a monument to the victims was erected in the town.
