Gemechis
Gemechis is one of the woredas in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. It is part of the Mirab Hararghe Zone. It was part of former Chiro woreda.
Demographics
The 2007 national census reported a total population for this woreda of 184,238, of whom 93,766 were men and 90,472 were women; 3,863 or 2.1% of its population were urban dwellers. The majority of the inhabitants said they were Muslim, with 90.1% of the population reporting they observed this belief, while 9.64% of the population practiced Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity.[1]
