Gediminas Ziemelis (born April 4, 1977) is a Lithuanian businessman, business consultant, selected twice among the top 40 most talented young industry leaders by Aviation Week & Space Technology.

Biography

In 1999, Ziemelis graduated from Business Management studies at the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. In 2006, after completing studies at Mykolas Romeris University, he received Master’s degree in Law.


A member of the YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization) – an organization that connects executives below the age of 40 who manage companies that generate annual revenues in excess of 45 million USD.

Ziemelis is also a guest lecturer at Vilnius University and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.

Requested by the Transparency International, non-governmental anti-corruption organization, Ziemelis audited the legal base and its functioning in order to investigate financial transparency of the Lithuanian politicians. In addition, Ziemelis prepared the Lithuanian debt market study Skolų rinkos apžvalga 2001–2005 m. (Debt Market Review, 2001–2005).

Being the principal shareholder of ZIA Valda as well as member of boards of several enterprises managed by the company, Gediminas Ziemelis is engaged in aviation suppornance, real estate management, duty-free retail and other business areas.

During 2010-2013 m. G. Ziemelis conducted IPO of three companies – Avia Solutions Group, AviaAM Leasing and Agrowill Group.[1] Although the initial public offering of Avia Solutions Group's shares was planned to be conducted in 2010, the offering was postponed due to unsatisfying share prices.[2] Avia Solutions Group finally went public a year later.[3] The company was elected one of the best debutants of the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2011, while in 2013 it was awarded with Polish Business Award in category “Increase of share price of Lithuanian company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange“.[4] In 2013 IPO of AviaAM Leasing - an aircraft lease and management comopany - has been conducted. However, according to some experts, the offering wasn't very successful, as the company managed to attract twice less money than planned.[5]

In the beginning of 2014, FL Technics - an Avia Solutions Group's subsidiary - has finished the construction of a 8 500 sq. m. aircraft maintenance hangar in Kaunas, Lithuania. That same year, G. Ziemelis and D. Shugayev - the Deputy CEO at Russian state corporation Rostec signed a cooperation agreement on the development and management of the fourth Moscow airport.[6][7] Currently the parties are considering the IPO of the newly established joint venture.[8]

In 2013 and 2014 Lithuanian business magazine Verslo Zinios rated Avia Solutions Group's companies among the 500 most profitable Lithuanian enterprises, while in 2013 FL Technics has been selected amont the most valuable enterprises for Lithuania and its citizens.[9]

In summer 2014 G. Ziemelis announced about the launch of a duty-free operator Globus Distribution.[10]
