Gaustad is an Oslo Metro station on Holmenkollen Line (Line 1) between Vinderen and Ris, at an altitude of 101.4 meters (333 ft) . The outer highway ring of Oslo (Ring 3) crosses the railway at Gaustad. Gaustad is the subway station closest to Rikshospitalet, although the tram system has a stop even closer. Many people leaving along Line 1 change trains at Gaustad to go to Ullevaal Stadion although Ullevaal Stadion has its own station. Gaustad is located in a sharp turn, leading to curved platforms and somewhat difficult access to the trains. It had 459 passengers daily in 2004.
