Gatehouse Bank PLC (Gatehouse) is a London-based investment bank specialising in Shariah-compliant products and services.

Founded in 2008, Gatehouse invests in accordance with Shariah principles with divisions in Real Estate Investment, Real Estate Finance, Treasury, Wealth Management, and Shariah Advisory. The Bank advises funds with approximately $2 billion assets in the United States and United Kingdom.[1]

Gatehouse is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority.

In April 2014, Gatehouse opened its Client Investment Office in Mayfair, London.[2] Its principal office is located at 125 Old Broad Street, London.

In June 2013, Gatehouse opened its first representative office in Malaysia, authorised by Bank Negara Malaysia. The office in Kuala Lumpur provides support to the London head office by profiling and nurturing new relationships with prospective clients in Malaysia and the South East Asia (SEA) region.

In June 2009, Gatehouse established the "Milestone Capital PCC programme" a US$1bn Sukuk issuance platform that enables a bank to raise funds for itself and clients from Islamic capital markets. The programme is designed to create maximum efficiency and flexibility in-line with a Shariah structure that underlies each issue under the programme.[3]

Real Estate

The Real Estate investment team targets opportunistic and value-orientated property assets based in the USA and United Kingdom across the office, industrial, single-family residence, private rent, student and logistics sectors.[4]

Gatehouse and Sigma Capital formed a joint venture to develop private rental housing in the UK[5] including developments in Liverpool and Salford.

Shariah Advisory

Gatehouse provides an in-house Shariah advisory service led by Shariah scholar, Mufti Muhammad Nurullah Shikder. The Bank’s services include: assisting with structuring of Shariah compliant products and issuing of Fatawa; audit and compliance review of documentation; and external consultancy services for Shariah advisory. The Shariah Advisory Board consists of: Mufti Muhammad Nurullah Shikder; Dr Abdul Aziz Khalifa Al Qassar; and Shaikh Essam Khalaf Al-Enezi.[6]

Recent investments/Exits

In April 2014, Gatehouse exited its investment in a Rolls Royce Manufacturing and Logistics Facility located in Scotland for £55 million.[7] In December 2013, Gatehouse sold its investment in InterContinental Hotels Group global headquarters, Broadwater Park, to a private overseas investor for £36.75 million.[8] In November 2013, Gatehouse agreed a landmark £700 million JV with Sigma Capital Group to support the roll-out of new privately rented residential properties in the UK.[9] In November 2013, Gatehouse completed its third acquisition of a diverse industrial portfolio located across 14 states of the USA. The $147 million portfolio was acquired in partnership with the Brennan Investment Group.[10]
