Gas Interconnection Poland–Lithuania (GIPL, also known as Lithuania–Poland pipeline) is a proposed natural gas pipeline interconnection between Lithuania and Poland that is expected to be finished by 2019. Pipeline is a part of Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan project.[1]
History
In August 2014 Polish and Lithuanian gas transmission system operators both submitted applications for EU support for the project.[2] Pipeline construction works is planned to start in 2016 and to be finished by 2019.[3] Expected capacity of the pipeline is 2.3 billion cubic metres per annum with possibility to expand it to 4.5 billion cubic metres per annum.[4] Expected cost of the project is 471 millions €.
