Gary Lino

Gary Lino is a former amateur boxer who won the 2012 United States New York City Amateur Featherweight title.[1] He defeated Augie Sanchez on his debut in the State Pre Olympic Trials in one of their three amateur bouts. He lost a chance to represent the United States in the 2011 Olympic Games, by losing twice to Liawan Tancha within the Olympic Box-Offs.

Professional career

Known as "Solid", Lino turned professional in 2004 after coming to the United States from Ontario, Canada. As a professional with Canadian backgrounds Lino was able to achieve some success, but was hampered by a questionable chin, which resulted in three brutal knockout losses out of his 19 successful professional wins. He was considered a quick snapper dominating on his extreme hand speed for his weight class and good standing defense, which was highlighted in his high-profile fight with Naseem Hamed. He knocked Hamed down (although the referee did not rule it an official knockdown), and landed some hard bombs that shook Naseem. Lino in return suffered a KO win against Hamed. Lino stopped his art of boxing to pursue school for a period of time after being challenged in return, beating a shot Luisito Espinosa, and soon landing a second KO to John Michael Johnson in 2012. Following this loss the Metropolitan State Athletic Commission failed to the renewal of Lino's boxing license till he reinstilled his international status in the United States.

Life after boxing

Lino currently works as a boxing trainer, and trains Michael Hunter (American boxer), son of former boxer Mike Hunter. He trains his fighters at Buson Boxing Center in Brooklyn,New York. He is supported through his career by his Fiance Molina Chan Nao and trainer Elliot Pancheco.

Military Transition Career

Lino is Currently a United States Marine Infantry and Also a Martial Arts Instructor Serving his Country to Protect the Country he loved During the Global War on Terrorism. He trains boxing along with the United States Marine Corps Boxing Team Under former Boxing Champion Major Angelo Rice. His commitment to his Community and his Country is a Honorable Valor he has as a fighter and is well respected through Ontario,Canada as well as New York City. He performs his outmost best to train and box throughts his deployments serving his Nation as well as his passion for Boxing.
