The Garfield County Courthouse, at 8th and Main Sts. in Pomeroy, Washington, was built in 1901. It is of Late Victorian architecture, designed by Charles Burggraf and built by Spokane contractor August Isle. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.[1][2]
It was built in 1901 in red brick with shakes as a replacement for an 1887 wood-frame courthouse that had burned in 1900. The brick was from a local kiln; the shakes were from the Blue Mountains. It is "one of several elaborate county courthouses constructed in Washington around the turn of the century."[2]:6
