Gareth V. Williams

Gareth V. Williams (born c. 1970) is an American astronomer, who is the associate director of the Minor Planet Center (MPC). He joined the MPC in 1990, and as such is the oldest staff member there. He is known for recovering the lost asteroids 878 Mildred in 1991 and 719 Albert in 2000.[1] He got a science degree in astronomy at University College London, and his PhD in 2013 from Open University.

He also recovered the lost (12126) 1999 RM11, the first discovered Jupiter Trojan, which would have been discovered in 1906, but wasn't observed long enough to have an orbit calculated from it, and therefore wasn't recognized as a trojan until it was recovered in 1999.[2]
