Gareth Morgan Price (18 August 1917[1] — 19 July 1992 (aged 74)) born in Llanelli, was a Welsh professional rugby league footballer of the 1940s and '50s, and coach of the 1950s, playing at representative level for Wales, and at club level for Leeds, Halifax, and Doncaster (Captain), as a Centre, i.e. number 3 or 4, and coaching at club level for Doncaster,[2] he died in Leeds.
International honours
Gareth Price won 11 caps for Wales in 1945–1948 while at Leeds.[3]
Genealogical information
Gareth Price's marriage to Sheila Brooksbank was registered during January–March 1948 in Leeds district,[4] and lived in Headingley. they had a daughter Tracey Anne Price. Gareth retired from his rugby career and opened up a newsagency on North Lane, Headingley with his wife. he retired a few years before his death from pancreatic cancer at Leeds General Infirmary on 19 July 1992, leaving his wife Sheila, daughter Tracey Anne, and his two grandchildren Gareth William (Little G.) and Barbara Lyn (his 3rd grandchild David William died in 87-88 from cot death. before his death he was out in torreviejca, or a break away. 4 weeks later when they got back to england, with in a matter o weeks, he died.
Gareth Price was cremated, his ashes were scattered at lawnswood crematorium, next to his mother and father in law, his grandchild david and also his good friend and fellow rugby player t.l williams. his wife sheila price, is now also scattered at lawnswod crematorium, ater dying in november 2010.
