Garden Reach is a neighbourhood of Kolkata in West Bengal , India.It is situated in the south eastern part of Kolkata near the bank of Hooghly River.[1][2]
Nawab Wajid Ali Shah of Awadh was kept here.After his release from Fort William, he was allotted a building called BNR house as his residence.[3]
Location
It is situated at the eastern bank of Hoogly river in South East Kolkata.It is located to the west of Kidderpore,east of Metiabruz,Bartala,Rajabagan,Badartala and to the north of Taratala,Behala.
Industries
It is surrounded by many industries and factories.Most famous of these is Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers.

Crimes
Garden reach is very famous for crimes and anti-social clashes.
- A police officer, Tapas Choudhury, was shot dead on 11th of february 2013 as members of the students' wings of Indian National Congress and Trinamool Congress violently clashed at Harimohan Ghose College while filling the nomination papers for the students' union election. Four students were injured in the violence.[7][8]
- On March 18 in 1984 during a clash between residents, mob clashed with the police, the cops fired several rounds.As result a deputy commissioner, Vinod Mehta and his bodyguard, Mokhtar Ali was killed.[9][10]
