Garcitas Creek is a river in Texas that La Salle and his men populated. They started a fort around it because it was their only source of fresh water. the fort was Fort Saint Louis, named after the current king of France. The river (actually a small creek) was polluted by the colonists and eventually they began to die of thirst.
