Ganpatrao Deshmukh

Ganpatrao Deshmukh (born 10 August 1926) is Indian politician and a leader of Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWP). He is the longest serving member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly have been elected 11 times, during the last 54 years, from Sangole in Solapur district. Deshmukh was first elected to the state assembly in 1962 elections, and since then won every election, except for the 1972 and 1995 elections, that is 1967, 1978, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1999, 2004, and 2009. In 2012, upon completing 50 years as a member, the Assembly and the government felicitated him.[1][2]

In the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election, 2014 at age 88, he won the Sangole constituency for record 11th time with 94,374 votes, defeating Shahajibapu Patil of Shiv Sena by 25,224 votes, while the NCP did not field a candidate against him ( Dipak Aba Salunkhe Patil ( NCP Candidate )supported to Ganapatrao deshmukh every time ).[1][3]
