Gangwar

Gangwar (गंगवार) is a community within the larger Kurmi Indian caste of North India.[1] A farming community, it is native to the Gangetic plains of the Central Doab and Rohilkhand regions of North India. Gangwars are mainly found in the districts of Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit and Farukhabad.

The community claims Kshatriya status and a descent from the mythical Suryavansha dynasty. Its name is derived from the Ganges river.
