Gangarampur (community development block) is an administrative division in Gangarampur subdivision of Dakshin Dinajpur district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Gangarampur police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Gangarampur.[1][2]
Geography
Gangarampur is located at 25°24′N 88°31′E / 25.40°N 88.52°E.
Gangarampur community development block has an area of 315.60 km2.[2]
The Punarbhaba River flows through the Gangarampur block.[3]
Gram panchayats
Gram panchayats of Gangrampur block/ panchayat samiti are: Asokgram, Basuria, Belbari I, Belbari II, Chaloon, Damdama, Gangarampur, Jahangirpur, Nandanpur, Sukdevpur and Uday.[4]
Demographics
As per 2001 census, Gangarampur block had a total population of 206,621, out of which 106,487 were males and 100,134 were females. Gangarampur block registered a population growth of 1.03 per cent during the 1991-2001 decade. Decadal growth for the district was 22.11 per cent.[2] Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84 per cent.[5]
