Gamma & Density Co. is a developer of tools which allow cinematographers to maintain artistic and technical control over their images in an increasingly complex pre-production, production and post-production digital environments. Gamma & Density's 3cP Set + Post software and calibration charts are used on-set for many film and digital feature films and commercials, as well as in post-production facilities around the world. 3cP establishes a standard of communication between DPs and colorists/post-production facilities.[1]

3cP Set + Post Software

3cP is a Mac-based system that allows a cinematographer to make color grading decisions on-set and then accurately pass them on to the dailies timer and the colorist directly involved with post-production. Using 3cP, everyone in the post-production environment receives a precise preview of color decisions for dailies, pre-post, matching special effects, and Digital Intermediate (DI) final color grading.[2]

3cP is constantly updated to support the latest digital cinema cameras and on-set cinematography and DIT tools, while supporting the latest workflow options available to post-production.[3] 3cP was also one of the first systems to integrate the ASC CDL (American Society of Cinematographers Color Decision List) which was first used on the film State of Play.[4]

Image Control

Image Control for iPad was introduced by Gamma & Density Co. in 2011. This mobile application for Apple iPad offered a method for cinematographers and photographers to make certain that the color and contrast of an image is faithful to the original artistic intent, while also providing nuanced control to explore possibilities in expression through a manner compatible with any camera-to-post-production workflow. Image Control takes full advantage of the iPads touch-screen, gesture-based technology, and applies it to color correction tools which can be used on-set by cinematographers and DITs.[5]

ExpressColor

In June 2013, Gamma & Density Co. launched ExpressColor, an app for Apple iPhone and Apple iPad which allows users to import still frames and create a custom color grade using color wheels and presets, then export the graded image along with a 3D LUT or ASC CDL.[6]
