Gajapathi-nagaram is a Town and Mandal in Vizianagaram district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.[1]

It is located on National Highway 43 between Vizianagaram and Ramabhadrapuram.

Demographics

According to the Imperial Gazetteer,[2] Gajapathinagaram Tahsil in Vizagapatam district had about 228 villages and covered an area of 333 square miles (860 km2). The population in 1901 was 1,34,553, compared with 1,24,057 in 1891.

As of 2001 India census,[3] Gajapathinagaram had a population of 5,282. Males constitute 48% of the population and females 52%. Gajapathinagaram has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 53%. In Gajapathinagaram, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
