Gagalphedi is a village in Kathmandu District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 5,533 and had 1,166 households in it.[1]

It lies to the North- East of central Kathmandu and shares its border with Bajrayogini VDC in the East, Alapot and Sundarijal VDCs in the West, Bhotechaur and Haibung VDCs of Sindhupalchok district in the North and Indrayani, Bhadrabas and Dachhi VDCs in the South. It is rather a remote VDC in terms of developmental activities. It can be said to be a big VDC in respect to the Area it occupies. Topographically, large part of the land falls under hilly terrain and only few lands are favorable for agriculture purpose.

Livelihood

Agriculture is the chief occupation adopted in this VDC to support their livelihood as the data shows 95% of the people adopt agriculture. Potato is the chief cash crop of Gagalfedi VDC. The locally manufactured products like fruits and vegetables face difficulty in reaching to the outer markets in lack of proper motorway.

Major attractions

Bageswari Mahadevsthan is the major religious site of Gagalfedi. A great fare is annually organized in the day of Bhadra Krishna Astami.

Temples of Siddhi Ganesh, Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva lie in Ward No. 2 of Gagalphedi.

Temple of Goddess Sarawati( Hindu Goddess of Learning) lies in Ward No. 4

Total 4463 people inhabit in 777 Houses in Gagalphedi VDC with Average

Household Density of 5.74 people. 65% of the people living here are Brahmans and Chhetris while Janajati covers rest 35% of the population.

There are 35 physically disabled people, 150 single women and 125 single men in this VDC.

75% of the people are literate.

Only 15% of the people are employed out of which 7% of them serve for government organizations while remaining 8% are performing services for private sector.
