Gachibowli is a major IT suburb of Hyderabad, Telangana, located in the Serilingampally mandal of the Rangareddy district.[1] It is situated about 5 km away from HITEC City, another IT hub. Both these suburbs lie in the north-west part of Hyderabad city.

Economy

Gachibowli has grown into a software hub for companies operating from Hyderabad. It is home to some of the top IT companies like the Microsoft, Amazon.com, Thoughtworks,Deloitte, Accenture, TCS, Virtusa, Sierra Atlantic, Wipro, Computer Associates, Infosys, Capgemini, Polaris, NVIDIA, CMC Limited, FactSet and DLF cyber city phase I.

International banking institutions such as the Franklin Templeton Investments, Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS), Brigade Corporation and Bank of America have made their home here. ICICI Bank runs its Regional Operations from here.

The area is also home to several multinational Contract Research Organizations such as AmaraRaja, Covidien, Dupont, Parexel, Neuland Laboratories, Avesthagen, Makhteshim Agan etc. The area is growing at a very fast pace with many new structures coming up. Real estate is on a new high. A new Information Technology SEZ by DLF is also coming up in this area.

Hospitality has been introduced in this area by Ista group of hotels and Indus Palm hotel. The region is also being developed as an international business hub, by the Real estate giant Tishman Speyer, with its signature waverock buildings.[2][3]

Apart from the IT industry, Gachibowli is also a sports hub. Some of the best stadiums in the city are located here including the Swarntelangana State Sports Complex, the GMC Balayogi Stadium, the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, a hockey stadium and an aquatics complex. The Military World games, World badminton championships were conducted at Gachibowli.. A golf course with natural rock formations has come up there recently. Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy is also located in Gachibowli.

Transport

Gachibowli is well connected by roads to another IT hub, the HITEC city, and also to the rest of the city.TSRTC buses, no 216, 217 connects Gachibowli to Mehdipatnam and Koti, the major city centers. The closest MMTS Train station is at Lingampally Railway Station (6 km away) and HITEC city (7 km away). The Outer-Ring Road connects Gachibowli to the International airport at Shamshabad. A metro train service is also being planned in Hyderabad, which would provide better connectivity and provide another public transport for commuters.
