Gabrijel Boban, born 23 July 1989 in Požega) is a Croatian football player who plays for NK Zagreb in Prva HNL.

Career

Born in Požega,[1] Boban went through the ranks of the nearby former Prva HNL team NK Kamen Ingrad. He debuted for the first team in the 2007/2008 season. As the team was relegated, he left the club and joined another Treća HNL team, NK Virovitica. He returned to Druga HNL quickly, however, playing 3 seasons at NK Vinogradar. In the 2012/2013 season he played for NK Pomorac, moving to the newly relegated NK Zagreb in 2013. He helped Zagreb return to the Prva HNL by scoring 18 goals during the season, trailing only behind NK Inter Zaprešić's Ilija Nestorovski (20 goals) in the league's overall rankings.[2] He made his Prva HNL debut 3 days short of his 25th birthday, scoring in the 1-3 loss against NK Rijeka,[3] repeating the feat a week later in his second top tier match, against NK Slaven Belupo.[4]

Personal life

Boban's family originates from Sovići in Herzegovina,[5] and he is a distant cousin of Croatia international Zvonimir Boban.[6]
