GNU Shogi is a free software program that plays shogi, the Japanese version of chess.
Although the program is ASCII based, it can also be used via a graphical user interface, much as XBoard is used for GNU Chess.
Last version has been released on January 2014. It's a GNU package currently maintained by Yann Dirson.
