Gísli Pálsson

Gísli Pálsson (* 1949 Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland) is a professor of anthropology at the University of Iceland. He is the author, editor, or co-editor of several books, including Writing on Ice: The Ethnographic Notebooks of V. Stefansson (2001), The Textual Life of Savants: Ethnography, Iceland, and the Linguistic Turn (1995), and Nature and Society: Anthropological Perspectives. He is currently (as of April 2014) working on a biography of the first person of colour to live in Iceland, Hans Jonatan.[1]
Gísli was awarded the Rosenstiel Award in Oceanographic Science at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, University of Miami in 2000. He is a member of the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland.
