Gérard Rudolf is a South African Film actor and Poet. He started his career in 1992 with Arende II TV Series.

Biography

Gérard Rudolf was born in Pretoria, South Africa on 20 April 1966. After completing high school in 1983 he did two years compulsory military service. In 1987 he joined the Drama school at the University of Pretoria where he graduated in 1989.

He then joined the CAPAB drama company for a year performing on stage in Shakespeare plays, comedies and dramas. He left the company in 1991 to start his own theater company called Makeshift Moon, specializing in original South African works. He received some notoriety as a gutsy actor and outspoken opponent to the Apartheid regime at the time, he also campaigned against the forced military conscription by the Government.

It was also in 1991 that he started developing an interest in film and appeared in numerous leads and supports over the next decade. In 1998 he became the youngest head of a drama school in the history of South African drama schools at CityVarsity in Cape Town.

He has worked with prolific actors such as Dennis Hopper(The Piano Player), Peter Weller(Styx) and Bryan Brown(Styx).

He left Cape Town and moved to India United Kingdom in 2002. But decided to move back in 2010. He currently continues his acting career in films, and also directs theater shows.

He is also a poet, and published his first collection of poetic writings in 2009, named "Orphaned Latitudes" [2]

His mother tongue is Afrikaans,[3] but he is also fluent in English and Dutch.
