Miguel A. Duran, Jr. (born September 24, 1980)[1] better known by his stage name Fuego (English: Fire) [2] is a merengue singer-songwriter and founder of his label Fireboy Music, currently signed to Pitbull's, record Label Mr. 305 Inc..
Early life
Duran was born to Dominican parents in Washington, D.C. and was raised in Langley Park, Maryland. He grew up listening to Dominican music he and his brother Julian Ricardo "RickyLindo" Duran were inspired to become singers. Fuego spent some of his childhood back in Dominican Republic where he lived for a few years in Santiago where later he returned to the Washington DC to attend Middle School & high School where he was introduced to Hip Hop & Rap music while at home he was always listening to Salsa, Merengue & Bachata.
Career
In 2005 with the help of Chencho from Reggaeton duo Plan B, he was featured in a compilation album (El Draft 2005) with his song "Me Gustan Todas",[3] After he was part of "El Draft Del Reggaeton" he was signed to "Chosen Few Emerald Entertainment, Inc",[4] in 2007 "Hustlin Time" featuring Rick Ross was released to promote Chosen Few III: The Movie. In 2008 Fuego scored his first big hit "Mi Alma Se Muere" which was the lead single to Chosen Few III: The Movie.[5] "Mi Alma Se Muere" Remix featuring Pitbull & Omega "El Fuerte" was released later that year, and the remix peaked at No. 22 with over 24 weeks on the Top 100 Billboards Tropical.[6]
In 2009, he released "Super Estrella" featuring Omega "El Fuerte" which was the first single to his debut album La Musica del Futuro. In December 2009, his second single was released "Que Buena Tu Ta" featuring Deevani which peaked at No. 2 on the Top 100 Billboards Tropical for 12 weeks.[7] In 2010 two remixes to "Que Buena Tu Ta" were released one featuring Serani and a Dominican version featuring Mozart La Para, Black Point, Sensato del Patio, Los Pepes, Monkey Black and Villanosam.
In April 2010, Fuego released his third single "Ya Te Olvide" and in June 2010 Fuego an online release titled "Una Vaina Loca" (which samples Gyptian's "Hold Yuh"). By 2011, "Una Vaina Loca" became an international hit with more than 30 million plays on YouTube.
Fuego's debut album La Musica del Futuro was released on August 3, 2010 (CD/Digital) and peaked at No. 36 in the Billboards Top Latin Albums. He was nominated for Premio Lo Nuestro 2011 in the category Revelacion del año urbano.
In 2012 Fuego spend many months touring around the world visiting many countries in Europe, Central America, South America & North America and establishing the artist in his record label EDB Records (Estrella De Barrio) while touring Fuego started to also work on his second album which is titled "VIDA" which he says will have 12 songs & 12 Videos!
In December 2012, Fuego prepared for the release of his new album VIDA with the release of his new single "Mala Mia". In February 2013 Fuego released the Music Video to his first single "Mala Mia" from his second anticipated album VIDA. In October 2013, he released the second single of the album VIDA: "Prendelo".
In March 2014 Fuego released the official music video to his single "Prendelo"
In April 2014 Fuego's single "Prendelo" Peaked #7 on the Latin Tropical Billboards,
In Late April Fuego also released via internet "U La La" a Reggaeton Record produced by Scarspro and Don Omar's Producers A&X (Alcover & Xtassy)
In Early August Fuego posted on his Instagram account that his new album "VIDA" would have an intro.
On Christmas day December 25, 2014, Fuego released his Mixtape titled "Fireboy Forever" with collaborations from Sensato Del Patio, Farruko & and Fuego's brother Rickylindo.
