Front National (Afrikaans: Front Nasionaal) (FN) is a South African right-wing political party formed in late 2013 as a successor to the Federale Vryheidsparty.[1] The party promotes Secession and White self-determination. Front National strikes no distinction between English-speaking Whites and Afrikaners in South Africa.[2]

Hannes Engelbrecht is their leader.[3][4][5]

Land claim

On 24 April 2014, FN submitted a land claim to the Land Claims Commissioner in Pretoria on behalf of the Afrikaner nation. The new land claims process has not yet been finalised however.[6][7][8]

Stellaland

On 4 May 2014 the party called for the restitution of the Republic of Stellaland. On 2 July 2014 the party send urgent correspondence to British and South African Government about the restitution of the British Protectorate Republic of Stellaland.

Activism

Clive Derby-Lewis

Front National has been advocating the release of Clive Derby-Lewis, currently (as of 2015) the oldest prisoner in the South African Correctional Services at the age of 79. He has spent the last 22 years behind bars. Derby-Lewis has made various bids for parole since June, 2010, when he was diagnosed with lung cancer.[9] In February, 2014, Derby-Lewis and his co-conspirator in the Hani murder, Janusz Waluś, lives were threatened when they were stabbed several times and had their head's struck with locks by fellow inmates.[10] It has been the stance of Front National that there has been political interference with his parole application.[11][12]

The party has approached the United Nations Commission on Human Rights over the handling of Clive Derby-Lewis's medical parole application.[13]

Affiliation

Civil Affiliation

Front National has affiliations with Boere Krisis Aksie (BKA),[14] which is self-described as a "Politieke drukgroep vir selfbeskikking en wit belange in Suid Afrika", translated (To English): "[a] Political pressure group for self-determiation and white interests in South Africa".[15]

Media Affiliation

Front National has media affiliations with South Africa Today (also known as SAT). South Africa Today has stated "...strives to support Front National (South Africa) with exposure and general news".[16]
