Fremont–Daly City line
The Fremont–Daly City line is a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) line in the San Francisco Bay Area that runs from Fremont station to Daly City station. It has 19 stations in Fremont, Union City, Hayward, San Leandro, Oakland, San Francisco, and Daly City. It shares all of its tracks with other BART lines.
BART colors this line green on maps but does not refer to it by color. It is alternatively called the Fremont line.
The line runs until 7pm on weekdays and Saturdays. At other times, Fremont–Daly City passengers can transfer between the Richmond–Fremont line and the Dublin/Pleasanton–Daly City line at Bay Fair station.
The Fremont–Daly City line was the third of BART's five lines to open. Service began when the Transbay Tube opened on September 16, 1974.[1]
Due to an electrical fire at the Hayward Maintenance Yard on May 10, 2008, BART temporarily suspended service on the Richmond–Fremont line south of Bay Fair on weekdays and Saturdays. During the repair process, Fremont–Daly City line trains had to slow as they pass by the yard. Full service resumed on July 14, 2008.[2]
As part of BART's Warm Springs extension project and first phase of the Silicon Valley extension project, this line will be extended to Warm Springs/South Fremont station in 2015 and then to Berryessa station in San Jose in 2016-2018. Current plans call for the line to be eventually extended to Santa Clara station.
