Fred (nicknamed Fredzilla) is a fictional character appearing in books published by Marvel Comics, in particular Big Hero 6, which features a team of superheroes of which he is a member. He also appeared in the 2014 Disney animated film Big Hero 6, which is based on the book.
Fictional character biography
Nicknamed Fredzilla, it is revealed that he is Ainu in origin and spent time growing up on a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. base in Japan.[1]
Powers and abilities
Fred can manifest a huge 'solid' Godzilla-like creature aura.[2]
In other media
Fred appears in Disney's 2014 animated film Big Hero 6, voiced by T.J. Miller.[3][4] In the film, he is depicted as a laid-back comic book fan who also plays the mascot at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. Speaking of Miller, co-director Chris Williams said "He's a real student of comedy. There are a lot of layers to his performance, so Fred ended up becoming a richer character than anyone expected."[5][6][4][7] In the film, Fred has a suit built for him which resembles a giant lizard and allows him to leap great distances and shoot fire. In the post-credits scene, Fred accidentally opens a secret door and finds weapons and superhero gear at his mansion. His father (voiced by and animated with the likeness of Stan Lee) arrives and embraces Fred, admitting they both have plenty to talk about.
