Frederick Dwelly

The Very Rev Frederick William Dwelly MA(Cantab) DD was the inaugural Dean of Liverpool.[1]
He was born in 1881 and educated at Queens' College, Cambridge. Ordained in 1907, he began his ecclesiastical career with curacies at St Mary Windermere[2] and Cheltenham Parish Church. During the Great War, he was a temporary Chaplain to the Forces. Later, he was Vicar of Emmanuel, Southport before becoming a canon residentiary of Liverpool Cathedral.[3] In 1931, he was appointed to its Deanery, serving for 24 years. He died on 9 May 1957.
