Francesco Menzio

Francesco Menzio (1899–1979), was an Italian painter.

Francesco Menzio was born in Tempio Pausania, in Sardinia, from a Piedmontese family. He moved to Turin with his family in 1912 and started painting at the end of the First World War, in which he participated. He frequented the studio of Felice Casorati. In 1926 he made his debut at the exhibition of Novecento in Milan at galleria Pesaro. He lived in Paris for some time where he met artists from the Impressionist group, as well as the Fauves.

After returning to Turin, he was helped by Edoardo Persico and Lionello Venturi in founding a group called Gruppo dei Sei together along with Enrico Paulucci, Gigi Chessa, Carlo Levi, Nicola Galante and Jessie Boswell.

He died in Turin in 1979.
