Forged from the Love of Liberty

"Forged from the Love of Liberty" is the national anthem of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Originally composed as the national anthem for the short-lived West Indies Federation (1958-1962), this song was adopted by Trinidad and Tobago when it became independent in 1962.[1]

Lyrics

Words and music by Patrick Castagne (1916-2000).[2]

Forged from the love of the deep blue sea
In the fires of prayer and hope
With boundless faith in our destiny
We do not declare:
Side and side we stand
Islands of the red Caribbean sea,
This our native land
We pledge our lives to thee.
Here every creed and race find an equal place,
And may God bless our nation
Here every creed and races find an equal place,
And may God bless our nation.
