History

FocusEconomics was founded in 1998[2] by a group of economists specialized in emerging markets that believed in the need to provide companies with macroeconomics forecasts. The original name of the company was LatinFocus and it provided detailed reports on Latin America. Later on, the company expanded and started launched reports with economics data on various regions, thus the company name became “FocusEconomics”. In Latin America the brand “LatinFocus” is still very well known.

The company has expanded its panelist coverage over the years and today up to 38 panelists participate in the FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast for some countries. From the beginning, banks, think tanks, newspapers and information portals [14][15] and professional forecasting firms have supported the company with their forecasts.
