Florian Uhlig

Florian Uhlig (* 28 October 1974 in Düsseldorf, Germany) is a German pianist.

Life

Florian Uhlig gave his first solo piano recital at the age of twelve. He studied with Peter Feuchtwanger and continued his studies at the Royal College of Music and at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he now resides.

Uhlig made his orchestral debut at the Barbican in London in 1997. Since then he has appeared with orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Munich Symphony Orchestra, Bayrischer Rundfunk Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and Vienna Chamber Orchestra.

In addition to his work as a soloist, Florian Uhlig is a chamber musician and vocal accompanist. He was the last partner of baritone Hermann Prey and has also collaborated with actors Christoph Bantzer, Cornelia Froboess and Gudrun Landgrebe.

Uhlig has recently recorded the complete works for piano and orchestra by Dmitri Shostakovich. He has given masterclasses and lectures at the Royal College of Music, London, the Kwangju Art University, South Korea, the Conservatoire de Neuchâtel, Switzerland, and the Universities of Johannesburg and Cape Town.
