Flockaveli 2 is the title of the upcoming third studio album by American recording artist Waka Flocka Flame. The album was originally due for release on October 5, 2013,[5] but as of April 2015, the release has been postponed indefinitely.[6][7] It will be a sequel to the rapper's 2010 debut studio album Flockaveli and is set to feature appearances by Timbaland, Wyclef Jean, Swizz Beatz, Ne-Yo, Drake, Ty Dolla Sign and Busta Rhymes.

Background

The album was first announced as Flockaveli: Part 2 by Waka Flocka in an interview with MTV in early 2013 as an upcoming mixtape. A the same time, he announced collaborations with Timbaland, Wyclef Jean and Swizz Beatz.[8][9] In May 2013, a first release date of October 5, 2013 was made public on Flame's Twitter page, which would have been exactly three years after the release of his debut album Flockaveli in 2010.[5] Since then, it has been postponed many times. In June 2013, Waka Flocka announced the first postponement of the album on Canadian radio station CFXJ-FM,[10] aiming for a new release date in the first quarter of 2014 and naming the perfection of the album as a reason for the delay. He also claimed the albums recording and mastering have been finished since 2012[11] and that Lex Luger, as well as TM88[12] and Southside of 808 Mafia would reprise their roles as producers on the album. Additionally, he named Rico Love and Jim Jonsin as producers.[13] Flocka had originally intended to make the song "50K" the first single of the album, but then decided to place it on his 2012 mixtape Salute Me or Shoot Me 4 (Banned from America) instead. The idea of still releasing the track on Flockaveli 2 has not been completely abandoned though.[5] In an interview with 16BARS.TV at the Splash! Festival in July 2013 in Germany, Flame confirmed an appearance by Busta Rhymes on the recording. The pair had previously worked together on DJ Khaled's "Welcome to my Hood (Remix)" and N.O.R.E.'s "Lehhhgo".[14] On October 31, 2013, Waka Flocka confirmed that Ne-Yo and Drake would be featured on Flockaveli 2.[15]

In October 2014, Flame announced at least one collaboration track with Ty Dolla Sign, entitled "Your Boy" would appear on the album and also confirmed Jojo Ryder, Mike WiLL Made It and Black Metaphor as producers.[3] A first tracklist was released on Flame's Twitter account in November 2014, listing 31 songs to appear on the album.[1]

In February 2015, Waka Flocka Flame tweeted "JAY Z • KANYE WESTLIL WAYNEDRAKE • 50 CENT & WAKA FLOCKA #Flockaveli2 #6/1/15 #RIPKAYO".,[16] leading to speculations that Flockaveli 2 would contain appearances by these artists. He later debunked these rumors in April 2015, saying "I don't even deserve a Jay Z feature, cause I ain't go gold or platinum." and stating his belief that you can't work with a gold or platinum artist if you haven't gone gold or platinum yourself.[17] He also announced a new release date of June 1, 2015 for the album. On April 27, 2015 Flocka tweeted about issuses with his record company Atlantic Records, who were apparently holding back the release of Flockaveli 2.[7]

Singles

The first single of the album, entitled "Slippin", was released digitally on April 29, 2014.[4] It features production by Mike WiLL Made-It.[18]
