Its Member of Parliament (MP) is Nina Grewal, a former sales manager. She was first elected in the 2004 election. She is a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. Her husband, Gurmant Grewal, was also a Conservative MP but stepped down in 2005. During the 39th Parliament she served as the Vice-Chair on the Standing Committee on the Status of Women. During the 40th Parliament, she was a member of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage and the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration.

Future

The 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution concluded that the electoral boundaries of Fleetwood—Port Kells should be adjusted, and a modified electoral district of the same name will be contested in future elections.[2] The redefined Fleetwood—Port Kells gains very small areas from the current ridings of Surrey North and South Surrey—White Rock—Cloverdale while losing significant portions of its current territory to the new districts of Cloverdale—Langley City, South Surrey—White Rock and Surrey—Newton. These new boundaries will be legally defined in the 2013 representation order, which is likely to come into effect upon the call of the 42nd Canadian federal election, scheduled for October 2015. In the unlikely event an election is called prior to April 2014, the current electoral boundaries would remain in effect.[3]
