Fit for a King, also known as FFAK, is an American Christian metalcore band from both Dallas and Tyler, Texas that started in 2007.[1][2][3][5][6] They released two independent EPs in 2008 entitled Fit for a King and 2009's Awaken the Vesper and they released one independent LP entitled Descendants in 2011. Then, the band released three studio albums with their label Solid State Records entitled Creation/Destruction (2013), a re-recorded Descendants (2013),[3] and Slave to Nothing.

Background

Fit For A King started in Tyler, Texas in 2007 with founder Jared Easterling and Aaron Decur. The band performed locally and regionally, for multiple years. In 2010 Ryan Kirby from the Fort Worth, Texas band Bodies Awake joined the band. Kirby's Bodies Awake bandmate Bobby Lynge also joined on guitar. The band then tracked their first independent full length "Descendants" in 2011. After gaining some acclaim through YouTube for their video for the song "Ancient Waters", the band started gaining a slight national following and began nationally touring DIY tours. Decur left the band in 2012 to pursue a career in law enforcement, and was replaced with Aaron Kadura, who also took over on clean vocals. Thanks to the success "Descendants" enjoyed independently, the band signed to Solid State Records in 2012. The band is now based out of Dallas.[6]

In July 2012, the band signed to their label Solid State Records.[7]

Independent albums

The band released their eponymously titled EP in album in 2008 Fit for a King and in 2009 released another EP called Awaken the Vesper.[3] In 2011, the band released the independent version of the album Descendants.[3]

Studio albums

The band released their debut studio album Creation/Destruction on March 12, 2013, with Solid State.[8] For the Billboard charting week of March 30, 2013, Creation/Destruction charted at No. 175 on the Billboard 200,[9] No. 17 on the Christian Albums chart, [10] No. 43 on the Top Rock Albums chart, [11] No. 6 on the Hard Rock Albums,[12] and No. 3 on the Heatseekers Albums chart.[13] [14] The album sold more that 3,100 copies in its first week of sales.[15]

Their second studio LP a re-recorded album of their lone independent album entitled Descendants, which came out on November 25, 2013 again through Solid State.[16] For the Billboard charting week of December 14, 2013, Descendants charted at No. 38 on the Christian Albums chart,[17] and at No. 8 on the Heatseekers Albums chart.[14][18]

Fit for a King's new album "Slave to Nothing" will be released October 14, 2014 under Solid State Records. The singles "A Greater Sense of Self", "Young and Undeserving", and "Slave to Nothing" (feat. Mattie Montgomery) have been released.
