In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the firenewt is a type of monstrous humanoid creature.
Publication history
The firenewt first appeared in the original first edition Fiend Folio (1981).[1]
The firenewt appeared in the second edition for the Forgotten Realms setting in the first Monstrous Compendium Forgotten Realms Appendix (1989),[2] and was reprinted in Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume Three (1996).[3] The firenewt was further detailed in Dragon #257 (March 1999) in "The Ecologies of the Firenewt & Giant Strider: Hammer & Anvil".
The firenewt appeared for third edition in Monsters of Faerûn (2001),[4] and as a player character race in Serpent Kingdoms (2004).[5]
Description
Firenewts are carnivores who prefer to dine on the flesh of humans and other humanoids, though they will also eat herd animals.
