Filip Novák (born 26 June 1990) is a Czech professional left-footed football player who currently plays in the Synot Liga for FK Baumit Jablonec.[1]

Club career

Filip Novák began playing football for his home team in Přerov. He had moved to FC Zlín in 2007 and then signed for FK Baumit Jablonec in 2011.

FC Tescoma Zlín

He played in the Czech premier league for the first time against Příbram[2] when he was 18 years old. Then he played only one whole match before his team was relegated to the second league in the end of the season 2008-09. It was an advantage for him because there was a less strong competition so he climbed to the top players of the team gradually.

FK Baumit Jablonec

In July 2011 Novák moved to Jablonec where has tasted UEFA Europa League very soon for example against AZ Alkmaar.[3] He regularly plays in the Jablonec's lineup since November 2011 on the position of left defender with the offensive targets. He scored his first goal in Czech premier league against Dukla Prague on 1 October 2012.[4] On 17 May 2013 Jablonec won the final match of Czech Cup. Novák played the whole match and successfully converted his attempt in a penalty shoot-out which decided the winner.[5] Then he played with Jablonec Czech Supercup against league champion of season 2012/2013 FC Viktoria Plzeň. Jablonec won the match 2:3 on 12 July 2013.[6] By winning the Czech Cup in the previous season, Jablonec qualified for the UEFA Europa League where eliminated Strømsgodset IF[7] but then was eliminated by Real Betis[8] immediately before the group stage.

International career

Novák was a part of the National team of Czech Republic U-21 which was playing in the European Under-21 Championship qualification in 2013. He scored his first goal for his National team U-21 against Wales.[9] They ran up from the group 3 as the winner but unfortunately were beaten by Russia in play-off round to the final tournament.[10]
