In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, fiendish creatures are magical versions of regular creatures (such as wolves, bears, horses, elks, badgers and so on) which live in the Lower planes.

Publication history

The fiendish creature template first appeared in the third edition Monster Manual (2000),[1] and the revised 3.5 Monster Manual (2003).

Description

Fiendish creatures fairly closely resemble their normal-plane counterparts but typically have a more evil, if not demonic and prehistoric, appearance. They also have considerably increased intelligence. Many fiendish creatures are pets or servants or spies or such of demons and devils.

Fiendish creatures cannot speak, but understand Common and Abyssal.

They are regarded as neutral evil in alignment.

Their goodly, Upper plane dwelling counterparts are celestial creatures.
