Perouz Artin Kalfayan (Arabic: بيروز أرتين كالفايان; Armenian: Փիրուզ Արթին Կալֆայան pronounced [pʰiɾˈuz ɑɾˈtʰin kɑlfɑˈjɑn, ɡɑlfɑˈjɑn]), better known by her professional name Feyrouz (فيروز Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: [fæjˈɾuːz]; born in Cairo, Egypt on 15 March 1943) is a famous Egyptian film child actress.[1]
Taking the name Feyrouz (Arabic language translation of her Armenian first name Perouz), she started with major roles as young as 7, with her debut in Yasmine (1950). She starred in more than 10 films as actress, singer, dancer and entertainer. Her biggest role was in Dahab (1953). She was sponsored by Egyptian film director and producer Anwar Wagdi who gave her most of her roles.
In 1959, she retired from acting when she was 15 years old. She married the Egyptian comedian Badreddine Gamgoum and had two children.
