Fernando Andrés Meneses Cornejo (born 27 August 1985) is a Chilean footballer who currently plays for Veracruz as an Right Midfielder.

Club career

He came up through Coló-Coló's youth ranks and debut on May 10, 2003, against Huachipato. His first goal came on October 24, 2004, against Union San Felipe. He was loaned to O'Higgins in the summer of 2006. However him and former O'Higgins coach Jorge Garcés had a tumultuous relationship and his exit from the club was not pleasant. He was then signed by Cobreloa, where he stayed until 2007. Meneses along with Leandro Delgado and Felipe Flores, were all let go by Cobreloa in the middle of the 2007 Clausura tournament because of indiscipline. The three players abandoned the team hotel without permission to attend a party.[1] After almost two years off the team, Meneses made his return to Colo-Colo in 2008.

Transfer saga

At the end of the Clausura Tournament, Meneses presented his self-dismissal to Universidad Católica for alleged breach of contract, becoming for the next season as a free agent. Not obstant, at the moment of his departure of Católica, he was object of signing of Universidad de Chile and Cruz Azul, but shortly after due to a controversial with his exit clause. Advised by agent, Jorge Barrera, the player proposes that the clause is held by Colo-Colo and Católica, owners in the moment of the 80% his rights for US$800.000.

International career

He was a part of the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship with Chile. He wore jersey number seven. Since then he has been called up to the adult squad for friendlies.

In May 2008, Meneses took part in the 2008 Toulon Tournament with Chile and played in all five games.
