Feng Lixiang (born August 1957) is a Chinese politician from Shanxi province. As of November 2014 he was under investigation by the Communist Party's anti-corruption agency. Previously he served as the CPC Party Chief of Datong.[1]
Life and career
Feng was born and raised in Shanyin County, Shanxi.
In December 1974, at age 17, he became a Sent-down youth in the Cultural Revolution.
Feng began his political career in December 1974, and joined the Communist Party of China in September 1976.
After the resumption of College Entrance Examination, he entered the Taiyuan University of Technology, majoring in mechanical engineering. After college, he was assigned to Shanxi Metallurgical Geological Exploration Company (Chinese:山西省冶金地质勘探公司), one year later, he was transferred to the General Office of CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee as a secretary. He earned a M.E. degree from University of Science and Technology Beijing in 1995 and a Doctor of Management Science and Engineering degree from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2008.
From December 1988 to March 1996, he served in various political roles in the office of Shanxi Provincial Government.
He served as Secretary General of Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee from March 1996 to August 2001, then he was promoted to Deputy CPC Party Chief.
Feng served as Deputy CPC Party Chief of Datong from February 2006 to February 2008, and CPC Party Chief, the top political position in the City, from February 2008 to October 2014. He concurrently served as Mayor of Datong from March 2006 to February 2008.
On October 15, 2014, he was being investigated by the Party's internal disciplinary body for "serious violations of laws and regulations".[2] In November 2014, he has been placed on file for further investigation.[3]
