Feline Resurrection is the debut studio album from former Pussycat Dolls member Jessica Sutta, which was originally planned to be released independently in November 2014, but currently has no release date. .

Background and development

In an exclusive interview for RadarOnline.com, she spoke about her first music video, her solo album, and the Pussycat Dolls: "Being the producer and the artist you'd think it would be really stressful, but for some reason everything went so smoothly. All my close friends were in the Show Me video, they're my best girl friends…I had a vision; I love the Marie Antoinette feeling and the girly, decadent kind of feeling in that video...the fantasy of it all." Since quitting the Pussycat Dolls, Jessica says there's no bad blood between the girls. "I talk to them a lot. They're really supportive and all doing their own thing. We grew a sisterhood, so I miss them a lot."[1] "I Wanna Be Bad" was released on iTunes on October 19.[2] In an interview she said she wanted "Jack in the Box" to be her 3rd single, stating that it's her favorite song of the album alongside "Good Boy", which she described as "sexy and fun".[3] Sutta also announced that she has a single coming up with DJ Erick Morillo,[4] called "Pin-Up Girl" which also features American rapper Stone Wallace. The song was written by VASSY & Jamie Hartman, and produced by Morillo, Harry Romero and José Nunez. She performed "Pin-Up Girl" with Stone Wallace and Morillo at Ultra Music Festival, on 27 March.[5] She officially confirmed on her Twitter that she had signed to "Hollywood Records", home to several Disney artists. She also confirmed her album is nearly completed and it will be called "Feline Resurrection".[6]

Composition

Songs and lyrics

Sutta's debut Album will include the dance sounds of "Show Me", as well as "Cry Wolf," a "sexy, feel-good" collaboration with Swedish producer Harry Sommerdahl, but "Feline Resurrection" will also explore R&B and pop territory. "I have tracks that are heavily dance-influenced, but then I have tracks that are full of 808 drums [Roland TR-808 drum machine] with a more R&B feeling to them," she says to Billboard.[7] Citing influences like Kylie Minogue and Madonna, and working with producers who’ve collaborated with Katy Perry and Grammy Award-winner Lady Antebellum, Sutta said simply of her new album, “It’s pop music”. One song, "Matador", she said, currently stands out amongst the rest as one of her favourites. “It’s about a relationship I had. It’s asking him not to tear my heart out of my chest,” Sutta said.[8]

Promotion

Sutta performed during the Tailgate Show at the Dolphins vs. Lions Game at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida on January 19, 2011. She performed two new songs from the album called "Jack In The Box" and "Good Boy".[9]

Singles

Jessica's official first single "Show Me" appears as a bonus track on Now That's What I Call Music! Vol. 39, which was released on August 9, 2011.[10] "Show Me" premiered on Idolator on August 3, 2011.[11] The video premiered on Saturday, August 6 on ABC Family.[12] Following that, the song became available digitally on August 23.[13] The song peaked at number one on the Hot Dance Club Songs in the United States, becoming Sutta's first number-one single as a solo artist. "When the record went No. 1, I kind of had to stop for a second. I didn't even know what to say," Sutta tells Billboard.com. "The transitions are sometimes very hard, but it's so worth it in the end because the hard work always pays off. I'm really grateful, and I'm working as hard as I possibly can because that's how bad I want it.

Other notable songs

In September 2010, Jessica revealed that her first solo single would be called "I Wanna Be Bad".[14] She debuted the song at the Truck Stop / Here Lounge in West Hollywood. "I Wanna Be Bad" was produced by Dutch producer Tearce Keaz[15] and written by Jessica: "I actually wrote this particularly song called "I Wanna Be Bad", it was right after I broke my rib, and I got inspired, I went in the studio with Tearce, and we made a song a year ago, so now it’s coming, and will be released on iTunes very soon with the video coming out as well."[16] Jessica premiered the video for "I Wanna Be Bad" on RadarOnline on October 19. The video was directed by Frank E. Flowers.
