Feitsui or Feicui Dam (Chinese: 翡翠水庫; pinyin: Fěicuì Shuǐkù) spans the Xindian River in Shiding District, New Taipei, Taiwan, southeast of the city of Taipei. It is one of two major reservoirs supplying water to the Taipei-Tamsui-Taoyuan region, the other being Shihmen Dam to the west. The dam was built almost exclusively for municipal water supply, although it also generates 70 MW of electricity at the Gueishan Power Plant beneath the dam. The dam is owned by Taipei City and was completed in 1984.[3]
The dam is 122.5 metres (402 ft) high and 510 metres (1,670 ft) long with a hydraulic head of 113.5 metres (372 ft). The elevation is 172.5 metres (566 ft). There are eight radial gates for the spillway, a tunnel spillway, and three sets of sluice gates for the dam with a combined release capacity of 9,870 cubic metres per second (349,000 cu ft/s). The forebay for the dam is 33 metres (108 ft) high.[4]
