Feitian Award
China Feitian Television Awards (Chinese: 中国电视剧飞天奖; pinyin: Zhōngguó Diànshì Feī Tiān Jiǎng), also simply known as Feitian Awards, is an annual awards ceremony for Chinese television. Named after the Gandhanra aka Flying Apsaras, thaward
stature shape source the ancient painting of Flying Apsaras in Mogao Caves, Dunhuang. The Feitian Awards were first held in 1981 as the Ministry of Culture Excellence Television Awards.[1]
The ceremony is held in Beijing, is highest government honor in Television industry. Along with Golden Eagle Awards, these are known as China's two main television awards.
The Feitian and Golden Eagle Awards have taken place on alternate years since 2005, with the Feitian taking place on odd years.[2]
History
- In 1983, the awards were renamed "Feitian", literally "Flying Apsaras".
- In 1984, add four new categories, including Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress.
- In 1993, add several new categories, including director, writer, cinematography, music.
- In 1998, cancelled the two supporting role categories.
- Since 2005, the Feitian and Golden Eagle Awards have taken place on alternate years, with the Feitian taking place on odd years.
